The Cait Morgan Mysteries

canada has a new detective - and she’s welsh

Cathy Ace is an author who understands how to write a ‘Golden Age’ crime novel for the 21st Century and deliver it with style and sophistication. Her protagonist is the not-so-typical, Welsh-cum-Canadian sleuth, Cait Morgan, who has become a favourite of crime readers around the world. In the series’ first book (of 9 and counting), Cathy uses the classic murder mystery format to bring an older, beautiful criminal psychologist, Cait Morgan, and aging gruff former homicide cop, Bud Anderson, together. The following books develop their relationship, as they get engaged, marry, honeymoon and travel for ‘pleasure’.

Cait and Bud inhabit the glamorous world of cruises, gambling in Vegas, spring in the idyllic Mexican countryside and summers in the vineyards of British Columbia. In fact, Cait wishes she could just enjoy the architecture, history, art and the food, of course, in the places around the world they visit without their path being littered with corpses! Mirroring Nick and Nora Charles, ‘McMillian and Wife’ and ‘Hart to Hart’, Cait and Bud are a fascinating new TV crime fighting duo who live an elegant, exciting and aspirational lifestyle that unfortunately forces them to solve puzzling murders wherever they go. Cait has been described as quirky, voluptuous, judgemental with an eidetic memory. While the silver fox Bud is pragmatic, procedure orientated and is cool headed in a crisis. He has a darker background, with secret service clearances, and links that stretch into the underworld.

THE FIRST FILM IN THE SERIES WILL BE; ‘The Corpse with the Silver Tongue’

In Cathy’s debut ‘Cait Morgan’, she creates a classic whodunnit, sowing the seeds for a beautiful romance, adding a dash of humour, and topping it all with a beautiful setting. Located in Nice, Cote de Azur, a cosmopolitan city that the world loves, our exciting mystery series begins with more than a touch of glamour and sophistication. As passions simmers in the Mediterranean heat, a man seemingly admired, and certainly feared, drops dead at a dinner party. All of the guests fall under suspicion, including Professor Cait Morgan. A criminologist who specializes in profiling victims, Cait sets out to solve the murder—and clear her name. The protagonist’s superb memory and professional background makes the eccentric Professor Cait Morgan a natural for crime solving. Add to this the disappearance of an ancient Celtic gold collar said to be cursed and you have the ingredients for a Niçoise salad of death, secrets, and lies. It’s a race against time to find the killer before Cait, too, falls victim to a murderer driven by a surprising and disturbing motive.

THE OTHER BOOKS WILL BE;

The Corpse with the Golden Nose: A heartfelt plea to look into the death of a world-famous vintner goes hand in hand with the opportunity to attend an exclusive gourmet event in British Columbia's stunning wine country. How can overindulgent foodie and criminologist Cait resist?

The Corpse with the Emerald Thumb: Cait was looking forward to her dream vacation in Mexico with boyfriend Bud Anderson. She wasn’t anticipating a fresh corpse on the floor of a local florist’s shop, and she definitely wasn’t expecting Bud to become the prime suspect.

The Corpse with the Platinum Hair: Cait and Bud take off on a short break in Las Vegas. But before they can start celebrating Bud’s birthday in an exclusive private dining room, the death of Miss Shirley - the acknowledged Queen of the Strip - results in a security lockdown. Cait, Bud, a corpse, and ten possible murderers are trapped in the luxurious restaurant for twelve deadly hours.
